How to Straighten Your Hair Without Heat

How to Straighten Your Hair Without Heat

Do you long for straight, glossy hair? There are a variety of styling tools out there, but prolonged exposure to heat from hair dryers and straightening irons can cause serious damage to your hair. Read this article to learn how to make your hair straight without the use of harmful and expensive tools.

Use straightening shampoo and conditioner. Combatting the natural frizz and curl of your hair with straightening shampoo and conditioner is a great way to get naturally straight hair without using heat. Straightening shampoos and conditioners have higher levels of silicones, polymers, and other ingredients to combat curls and frizz.[1]

·         There are many great shampoos on the market today that help lessen frizz, detangle hair, and straighten curls.[2]

·         Buy a shampoo online, from a store, or ask a salon stylist for a recommendation.

·         The first shampoo you try may not work best with your hair, and trying different brands may be necessary.

Use straightening serum. These serums contain silicone compounds that lock in moisture, combat frizz, and smooth hair. Purchase a smoothing, straightening hair serum, and apply it while your hair is wet after showering. Massage the product into your hair for a few after every wash.

·         Evenly distribute the serum throughout your hair.

·         Keep your hands moving to avoid placing too much serum in one area.

·         Use a dime-sized amount of serum. Use a little bit more if your hair is thick.

Brush your hair thoroughly with a wide tooth comb or brush.[3] If you have curly hair, using a wide tooth comb or brush is best because it will help ease frizz and detangle your hair.[4] Some combs are even infused with essential oils to add shine.

·         It is also recommended you brush your hair periodically until it’s dry.

·         Brush through your entire head of hair about every five minutes.

·         It can take up to ninety minutes for hair to dry, so be patient.
